Data Centre Technician | Location: Newcastle

Salary: Up to £50,000

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30–5:30.

As a Data Centre Operations Technician, you will take on hands-on technical responsibilities across build, deployment, maintenance, and operational support, ensuring the smooth running of critical environments for a wide range of customers. SC clearance is required for this role, and the organisation will fully sponsor your vetting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on Data Centre work including break/fix, hardware builds, racking, patching, cabling and structured cabling support
  • Deployment and support of server, network, storage and associated components
  • Use of internal ticketing systems to maintain SLAs and ensure accurate updates
  • Support remote access troubleshooting and LAN connectivity issues
  • Power monitoring, PDU configuration and basic M&E awareness
  • Asset accuracy and DCIM system updates
  • Participation in change control and adherence to governance standards
  • Maintaining a clean, compliant, and secure Data Centre environment
  • Supporting audits, quality checks and continuous improvement initiatives


What We're Looking For

  • Strong hands-on Data Centre operational experience
  • Confident with racking, cabling (copper & fibre), build, configuration and hardware swaps
  • Solid experience in server, network and storage deployment
  • Familiar with IT hardware concepts (RAID, SAN, x86, iLO, FC, Ethernet)
  • Well-organised, self-motivated and able to work independently or within a team
  • Strong communication skills and high attention to detail
  • Local to Newcastle / North East—ideal for those seeking long-term stability outside London’s DC hubs
  • Full UK driving licence + access to a vehicle
  • Willingness to undergo SC clearance (fully funded)


Desirable:

  • Experience within a hyperscale or enterprise cloud data centre
  • Experience with structured cabling design, testing and termination
